Taking practice exams
When you think you’ve learned enough, you can take the practice exams. This will test whether you know enough for the real exam and also show you what to expect when taking the exam.
What you need
To take the practice exams you will need:
- a computer or laptop
- internet connection
Your computer must have Windows (XP and above), Mac OS X (10.2 PPC and above) or Linux (RedHat 7.3 and above) installed. If you use a desktop computer, it should have a microphone. Alternatively, you can use a headset with microphone.
Knowledge of Dutch Society (KNS)
The KNS practice exam has 5 questions. The real exam has 30 questions and takes 30 minutes to complete.
During the exam, you will be shown photos and asked to answer questions. The questions are read out slowly. You are given 2 possible answers. Select the correct answer by clicking it using the mouse.
All the KNS exam questions and answers are shown in the photo book, which is included in the self-study package, for you to read at home.
Reading
The Reading practice exam is similar to the real exam. The practice exam and the real exam have 19 questions. Both exams take 35 minutes. Only the questions are different.
The Reading exam has texts followed by questions. First you read a short text. Then you answer the questions. After the practice exam, you can check which questions you answered correctly.
Speaking
The Speaking practice exam is similar to the real exam. The practice exam and the real exam have 22 questions. Both exams take 30 minutes. Only the questions are different.
The Speaking practice exam has:
- 10 questions that you have to answer, and
- 12 sentences that you have to complete.
You should speak your answers into the microphone. After the exam, you won't be able to check which questions you answered correctly.
